It-Girl Hobbies to Try This Summer
Hey Babes!
Welcome back to the blog! I hope you're doing amazing. Summer is finally here, and with it comes the chance to shake things up and try something new. While everyone has their own idea of the perfect summer, I think we can all agree on one thing: a boring summer is a bad summer.
Whether you're a homebody who thrives indoors or an adventurer always chasing the sun, I've got you covered. I’ve put together a list of It Girl hobbies to try this season, divided into four fun sections. You might gravitate toward one, but feel free to explore them all!
Enough chit-chat—let’s get into it 💅

🌸 Indoors: For the girls who want to avoid the summer heat, but hate doing nothing
Pottery, painting, knitting, and all things artsy
If you’re a creative soul, the worst thing you can do is sit around feeling uninspired. Try your hand at DIY crafts, painting, journaling, or even sewing. There's something deeply fulfilling about making things with your hands.
Cocktail (or mocktail) making
I recently picked up a cocktail recipe book, and let me tell you—it’s life changing. Water and juice can only do so much. My current obsession? Piña coladas. But you can explore everything from spicy margaritas to refreshing spritzers. Bonus: try alcohol-free versions for a fun twist.
Gardening
Now’s the perfect time to grow your own herbs, veggies, or flowers. Whether you have a full backyard or just a windowsill, getting your hands in the dirt can be super therapeutic (and productive!).
Cooking and baking
As some of you know, Mr. Dragon usually runs the kitchen in our house. But this summer, I’m challenging myself to learn more recipes! If it’s too hot for baking, focus on cold dishes like soba noodles, poke bowls, or fresh sandwiches.
☀️ Outdoors: For the girls who thrive in summer weather
Surfing
The ultimate hot-girl summer activity. Surfing is equal parts meditative and exhilarating. Mr. Dragon and I finally got to use our boards on Jeju Island and it was everything.
Tennis
I recently spent some time at The Court & Club in the Hamptons and had a blast. Even if you’re not sporty, tennis is a fun way to stay active and social—plus, the outfits are chef’s kiss.
Biking (or scootering/skateboarding)
Whether it’s a peaceful ride through the park or a mini adventure on your street, biking is the perfect way to stay active without feeling like you're working out.
Swimming
You already know the vibe. Whether it's laps in the pool or floating in a lake with a cute drink in hand, swimming is the go-to summer classic.
🌿 Adventure: For the girls who crave spontaneity and live to explore
Camping
Reconnect with nature and unplug from the world. Whether it's glamping or roughing it, there’s something magical about sleeping under the stars.
Road trips
Plan a spontaneous weekend drive or map out a full itinerary with friends. Bring snacks, make playlists, and chase sunsets.
Hiking
Find a local trail or travel somewhere new. The views, the fresh air, the sense of accomplishment—it’s all worth it.
Backpacking
Ready to go big? Backpack through a national park, your home state, or even abroad. It’s the perfect hobby for those who want to see the world on their own terms.
💌 Social Hobbies: For the extroverted girlies who make friends wherever they go

Sailing
If you’re near the water, try your hand at sailing (or find someone who needs a co-captain). It's chic, exciting, and surprisingly relaxing.
Hosting parties
From cozy garden brunches to themed soirées, summer is the time to be the hostess with the mostess.
Fostering pets
Yes, it’s a social hobby! Fostering animals connects you to a whole network of people, and who doesn’t want to be surrounded by cute, cuddly creatures?
That’s it for now!
Let me know which hobby you’re adding to your summer bucket list, or if you have a fave I didn’t mention. Stay cool, stay curious, and most importantly—have fun.
Xoxo,
Scarlette
