My Favorite Looks from The 2026 Met Gala

Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to the blog! I hope you're doing amazing. The Met Gala has once again graced us with the most immaculate looks from the stars. This year, the theme for the 2026 Met Gala was "Coustume Art: Fashion is Art" and our favorite celebrities delivered. It has been a week since the Met Gala, and I feel like that is more than enough time to form my opinions and thoughts. Today, I want to share my favorite looks and pieces that left me in awe. This post wasn't planned in advance like usual, so you are getting my unfiltered thoughts as you read on.

1. Paloma Elesser in Bureau of Imagination

Starting off with Paloma Elesser in Bureau of Imagination. I love that this gown was crafted from 30 vintage dresses from eBay, Francesso Risso really thought outside the box with this one. I also like the painted on details and metal embellishments. I want to say this look plays into a certain art style, but I don't know if that's Roccoco or Impressionist. Either way, Paloma and Bureau of Imagination blew me away.

2. Beyonce in
Olivier Rousteing

(How much do you wanna bet she's soft launching a rock album?) I do think there's a bit of punk/metal inspiration for this look. I really love the skeleton design that even reaches her hands and fingers. My expectations were high, and Beyonce went above and beyond.

3. Emma Chamberlain in Mugler

This look reminds me of the famous Chimera dress by Mugler. I like to think that Mugler is one of the more experimental and artistic fashion houses, so it's pretty iconic that they would reference themselves. Designed by Anna Deller-Yee, this dress is made of everything but traditional materials. The dress is entirely handpainted and apparently it took 40 hours to paint the entire thing.

4. Hailey Bieber in Yves Saint Laurent

Did this look break ground? No. Do I still think she looks beautiful? Absolutely. There's something about this look's simplicity that speaks to me. The bodice of the dress is sculpted from 24k gold and molded to fit Hailey's body. It's clearly a call back to Saint Laurent's 1969 fall collection that featured similar bodice designs and draping shawls. Yves Saint Laurent worked with Claude Lalanne, a French sculptor, to achieve this gorgeous look.

5. SZA in Bode

SZA and yellow go together like peanut butter and jelly. This gown was 100% sourced from Ebay. A lot of people online are saying that this look isn't cohesive and that it's overkill. I can see where they're coming from, but I personally love the creativity here. I do think some things could have been done better, but I'm not SZA or Bode, nor was I at the Met Gala.

6. Adut Akech in Thom Browne

This has to be one of the best looks I saw at the Met Gala this year. I love a good maternity moment in fashion. I find it poetic how there are flowers surrounding her unborn baby. This is an organza bodysuit with a taffeta overcoat. This look is absolutely beautiful.

7. Anok Yai in Balenciaga

When has Anok ever not shown out for the Met Gala? There is so much to talk about here: the dress, the tears, the prosthetic wig, that fact that she's gold. She's mesmerizing! I also love the message behind this look, with the ode to the Black Madonna and a symbol of hope. Pierpaolo Piccioli, the designer behind this look, nailed it. These two should collaborate more often if this is what they come up with.

8. Gwendoline Christie in Giles Deacon

I'm a whore for all things dramatic and theatrical, so this is obviously my favorite. You can tell Giles Deacon loves Gwendoline just by looking at her gown. Her look is inspired by the creatives that she admires: John Singer Sargent, Madame Yevonde, and Ira Cohen. This look is very bold and striking. I'm obsessed with the mask shaped exactly like Gwendoline's face. I love seeing tall women in styles like this.

9. Sabine Getty in Ashi Studio

It's been a few days since the Met Gala. I still can't get over this look. Sabine Getty is wearing Ashi Studio, and her dress features a painted drawing of her bare chest. I also like the small detail of Sabine and the painting wearing the same ring.

10. Lisa in Rober Wun

Lisa tapped into her Thai heritage with this look, as the additional hands make gestures found in Thai dance positions. In fact, Robert Wun used 3d scans of Lisa's own arms to create this look. She looks very ethereal and angelic.

11. Kylie Jenner in Schiaparelli

The Kardashian/Jenners have a history of pissing me off almost every year. I do think Kendall and Kylie were a bit more creative this year so I will give them flowers for that. Kylie Jenner's look in particular caught my eye because of it's unique shape. It's a dress that looks like she's coming out of a dress. Everything about this feels surreal and fluid. The nipple detail got a small giggle out of me, but I'm here for it. Nudity deserves to be as art.

12. Tyla in Valentino

Finally, we have Tyla in custom Valentino. She looks sirenesque and I love everything about this look. Jewel tones are definitely for her. I have nothing more to say here except that she looks stunning.

And that is all I have for you today, my loves! Let me know you thoughts. Did you like any of the looks I talked about? Do you have a favorite look that I didn't talk about? Let me know in the comments or over on Instagram.

xoxo,
Scarlette
