Sharing My Beauty Secrets

Hey Babes!

Welcome back to the blog! Let me set the scene: imagine a candlelit vanity, the glow of golden-hour light on your skin, and the gentle hum of self-care—this is the essence of how I approach beauty. If you ask anyone who knows me, they'd tell you I live for these moments and take beauty very seriously. I strive to be the best version of myself, internally and externally. From watching Vogue Beauty Secrets to indulging in bi-weekly pamper days, there is undeniable value in beauty. That is why today, I’m letting you in on some of my most cherished beauty secrets. I wouldn’t be sharing these if I didn’t fully believe in them, so without further ado, here are my beauty secrets:

1. Body Slugging

It's important to take care of your skin, and my favorite way is through body slugging. Every night, I layer my body care products to lock in moisture and keep my skin soft and glowing. I start with a nourishing body oil—my go-tos are almond oil and coconut oil for their hydrating and antioxidant properties. After that, I seal everything in with a thick layer of shea butter or a luxurious body cream like Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream or Fenty Skin’s Butta Drop. The result? Skin so soft, it feels like silk.

2. Organic Materials Only

When I say "organic materials," I’m talking about both the fabrics I wear and the ingredients I use. I prefer wearing natural fabrics like silk, hemp, linen, wool, cotton, and cashmere because they’re better for your skin and overall health compared to artificial fibers and harsh dyes. Plus, slipping into a chic pair of silk pajamas at night feels so luxurious and comforting. The same goes for ingredients—I’m mindful to avoid products with artificial fragrances or chemicals, opting for those with clean, organic formulations instead.

3. Occasional Detox Baths

I learned this one from my mom and Naomi Campbell. Every now and then, when I need to reset, I take a detox bath to feel rejuvenated. It’s the ultimate self-care ritual! My personal favorites are charcoal soaks for drawing out toxins, rose-infused baths for relaxation and hydration, and citrus-based soaks for an energizing boost. I love adding Epsom salts, essential oils, and dried flower petals to enhance the experience. Afterward, I feel like a brand-new person.

4. Coconut Water

If you follow me on Instagram, you already know I keep a bottle of coconut water with me at all times. Not only is it delicious, but it’s also packed with electrolytes and vitamins that are amazing for your skin and body. Drinking it regularly helps keep me hydrated, which translates to glowing skin, and it’s great for post-workout recovery. Pro tip: Use coconut water as a base for smoothies to add a refreshing twist!

5. DIY Essentials

I’ve become obsessed with making my own skincare and body care products. It’s not only fun but also gives me control over the ingredients I’m putting on my skin. Some of my favorites include lip oils, shimmering body oils, and rose water facial mists. Right now, I’m loving a rose water face spray I whipped up in my kitchen—it’s perfect for setting makeup or refreshing my skin throughout the day. Let me know if you want some of my recipes; I’d love to share them in a future post!

6. More Than Water

We all know staying hydrated is crucial, but let’s be honest—plain water can get boring. To mix it up, I add lemon slices, cucumber, or mint to my water for a spa-like experience. When I’m craving something different, I love sipping on iced herbal teas, like chamomile or hibiscus, or making a refreshing matcha latte with almond milk. Infused waters and teas are not only delicious but also packed with antioxidants and vitamins.

7. Holistic Health

I believe in nourishing the body from the inside out. Incorporating natural supplements like ashwagandha for stress relief, chlorophyll for detoxification, and fenugreek for hair and skin health has been a game-changer for me. I also enjoy turmeric lattes and adaptogenic powders for an extra boost of wellness. Taking a holistic approach to beauty helps me feel balanced and radiant.

8. Tea Bags for the Eyes

Here’s an old-school trick that never fails: chilled tea bags for tired, puffy eyes. Green tea or chamomile tea bags work best, as they’re packed with antioxidants and soothing properties. Just steep, chill, and place them over your eyes for 10-15 minutes to reduce puffiness and refresh your gaze.

9. Dry Brushing

Dry brushing is an underrated beauty hack that I swear by. It’s a simple practice that exfoliates dead skin, boosts circulation, and even helps reduce the appearance of cellulite. I dry brush my body in upward strokes before showering, and the results are smoother, glowing skin every time.

10. Steam

Steaming is my favorite way to deeply cleanse and hydrate my skin. Whether it’s a quick face steam with a bowl of hot water and essential oils or a full-on sauna session, steam helps open up my pores, making it easier to remove impurities and absorb skincare products. For an at-home spa experience, I add lavender or eucalyptus oil to the steam and follow it up with a hydrating mask.

Xoxo, Scarlette
